ITINERARY  FOR PERU.  Day 6 to day 14   

Day 6

International Arrival (according to LAN flights must arrive 11.30 Lima then take 13.20flight to Juliaca arriving 15.55)

Assistance on your arrival in Juliaca. On your way to Puno, visit the famous Chullpas of Sillustani, 12 m/40ft high stone cylinder burial chambers, used by the Aymaras to bury their important leaders. Lake Umayo, located in front of the Chullpas, adds further beauty to the place. Here you also have the opportunity to observe wild guinea pigs, birds and other local wildlife. Arrival to selected hotel where you have free time to rest and get acclimatized to the altitude.

 

Day  7

Breakfast at the hotel and after that transfer to the port.

Early in the morning we take a full day   excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating "Islands" of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called "totora". Their homes and boats are also made from this material. We continue our motor boat trip to Taquile Island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, down through the generations. After lunch at a local Taquile inn, we take a walk through the various hills and archaeological sites of this 6km long island. In the afternoon, return to Puno for overnight at selected hotel.

 

Day  8

In the morning, after breakfast, transfer to bus station and departure to Cusco

(Duration 8 Hrs Aprox) During this road trip we will visit places such as Pukara, with is an archeological complex formed by pyramidal structure, then La Raya, is the highest pass on the road; this point is the conjunction of the cordilleras and gives origin to the Vilcanota knot, Then Raqchi temple dedicated to Wiracocha: (supreme God of the Incas Empire) the temple is built out of sundried mud-brick walls and stones. Then Andahuaylillas:  this church is considered the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas “inside we can find a variety of paintings and murals dating from the XVI and XVII centuries.

We will have a tourist guide and buffet lunch on the way.

Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel.

 

Day  9

Free Time in the morning.

In the afternoon, sightseeing tour of Cusco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral, and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. Take a pleasant walk in the bohemian district of San Blas, home to the best known craftsmen of Cusco. Visit its beautiful church, to admire its impressive carved wooden pulpit, with images of local fruits carved into it in filigree. Pop into some of the craft shops in its small Main Square. On your way back to Cusco center, go through Hatunrumiyoc Street with its famous Twelve-angled stone.

Then, we drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán. The latter site is strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco and is famous for its enormous carved stones, some of them standing over 9m / 30ft tall, and weighing over 350 tons, set together with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Return to the hotel.

 

Day  10

Breakfast in the Hotel. Full day tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visit the town of Pisaq and attend the agricultural market where peasants and artisans are congregate. Buffet lunch in a country restaurant, continuing the tour toward the north to visit Ollantaytambo, a magnificent fortress built during the reign of the Great Pachacutec, excellent sample of military architecture, Overnight Sacred Valley

 

 

Day  11

Transfer to Ollantaytambo train station for a 1 and a half hour train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the Incas", one of the best known examples of surviving Inca architecture. Arrive in Aguas Calientes station followed by a 30-minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding road, to the marvelous citadel. Upon arrival, you will participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (the most important preserved Intihuatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you'll have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. Buffet lunch at a local restaurant and return to Cusco by train. 4 Hr yourney.

 

 

Day  12

Breakfast in the hotel, transfer to airport flight back to Lima

Flight Cusco / Lima (is better to get flight at 12.00)

Reception in Lima Airport and transfer to Paracas City (2.30 hrs Journey)

Overnight Paracas

 

Day  13

Breakfast in the Hotel, then Ballestas Island tour after that back to Lima

Pm. Lima City Tour. Evening free in Lima.

 

 

Day  14

Breakfast in Hotel and rest of day free in Lima. Very exciting city.

Evening  transport to Airport for flight to Buenos Aires.
